Victorian parliament is a beautiful place if you visit Victoria. This castle was built in the late 19th century as a family residence for the wealthy coal baron Robert Dunsmuir and his wife Joan. Robert died in April 1889, 17 months before construction of the castle was completed. His sons Alexander and James took on the task of finishing the house after his death. James also commissioned the construction of Victoria's second "castle": Hatley Castle located in Colwood, British Columbia.

The Butchart garden is an outdoor garden where it is very pleasant to walk around and enjoy the open spaces.
The Christmas lights tour operates in the evening during this season. I had a day of light rain that did not prevent me from enjoying the place. It is a big inconvenience in this case if you do not bring a suitable umbrella because the one provided by the park is ridiculously small, even an infant gets wet.
The place has a cafeteria and an a la carte restaurant for a formal dinner.
